SPINED SOLDIER BUG (General Predator)
Latin name: Podisus maculiventris Adult and nymphs stab their prey with mouthpart and suck dry. Spined Solder bugs, Podisus maculiventris are shield shaped bugs that feeds on variety of caterpillars. Their prey includes Asparagus beetles, cabbage loopers and worms, bean beetles, codling moths, Colorado potato beetles, corn earworms, eastern tent caterpillars, fruit tree leafrollers, gypsy moth caterpillars, imported cabbage worms, Mexican bean beetle, tomato fruitworms and many more. Release spined soldier bugs near pests out of direct sunlight.
